1 (26m) was seeing this girl (29f) last week and things seemed to be moving quickly. I liked her, she liked me, and she wanted to have our third date this past saturday and she wanted to go fishing with me. I text her the location. I tell her we are going to the pier to fish. I thought she knew which pier I meant (my mistake) because we had visited it at the beach just two days prior.

The next day, i gather my fishing stuff and some bait and drive 45 mins to her place. Im wearing black swim shorts, a black daft punk t shirt, and flip flops. She makes a remark about my flip flops. I say we are going to the beach - she didnt know I meant a beach day when I said fishing at the pier. She tells me i shouldve planned something else and didnt wanna do the beach again. I find a different fishing spot for us. We get in the car, then she tells me

what "You really need to get a new wardrobe. Like, you're wearing is really turning me off. I dont think I want to go fishing with you. I think we are at different points in our lives and I dont want to waste your time"

I was alone. I dressed nicely the first date and the second date wore beach attire. Idk if she was expecting me to have planned something grand 1. Didnt say much. I drove back home Edit: fishing as a date was her idea, not mine. I had plans to go fishing anyways and she asked to come along, so we made it a date.

King Andross904 • 2d What was she wearing to the date?
  • 08
focksmuldr OP.2d Jeans and a nice sweater

KingAndross904 • 2d Maybe she felt silly for overdressing for a fishing trip? And rather than feel foolish about a small miscommunication, she blamed you and ended it? Or maybe she hates Daft Punk? lunno, I'm throwing out wild guesses, lol. For the record, I think fishing for a date would be awesome. But I'm also a straight dude, so I can't speak on behalf of the ladies.

rathmira 2d Straight lady here; a fishing date would be absolutely awesome. And what the is wrong with a daft punk tee and flips flops for hanging out on a pier? There's something wrong with this gal.

Marshtamallo • 2d It's not gonna work if she doesn't like daft punk

iriedashur 2d • Once you started talking about fishing, I assumed she was judging you for wearing a "women want me, fish fear me" T-shirt I think you dodged a bullet

Thick_Dealer_7527 • 2d As a 29 year old woman who slightly judges a man based on what he wears, I say you should be glad she left. You went for a fishing trip, dressed for a fishing trip, and if she has a problem with that, it's on her. There is a time and place for nice clothes, and I also feel it is better to to be able to chill and dress casually when the situation calls for it.

Professional Paper704 • 2d Seconded. I also (29F) have opinions about how my dates dress, but even weird clothing choices are endearing by the third date if I'm genuinely connecting with them
